Abstract

1,260,473. Fuel compositions. SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ N.V. 20 June, 1969 [22 July, 1968], No. 34755/68. Heading C5G. An emulsified fuel comprises at least 75 wt. per cent of a hydrocarbon distillate fuel as a disperse phase, water (e.g. 0À75 to 12 wt. per cent), an emulsifier (e.g; 0À3 to 10 wt. per cent), a water soluble non-ash forming freezing point depressant (e.g. 0À3 to 10 wt. per cent) and a water soluble non-ash forming emulsion stabilizer (e.g. 0À3 to 10 wt. per cent). Suitable fuels are aviation kerosines, gasoline and diesel oil boiling between 20‹ and 400‹ C. Suitable emulsion stabilizers are urea and formamide, a suitable emulsifier is a condensate of an alkylphenol with an alkylene oxide, and suitable freezing point depressants are ammonium nitrate, ethylene glycol and glycerol. Ethylene diamine, ethylene glycol and dodecenyl succinic acid can also be included as anticorrosion agents.
