Abstract
1,259,228. Automatic circuit breakers. SQUARE D CO. 15 Sept., 1970 [16 Sept., 1969], No. 43932/70. Heading H1N. An automatic circuit breaker having an armature member 64, a latching member 73 and a magnetic core member 51 as disclosed in Specification 901,913, further has a push button 80 depressible to move the armature and latching member longitudinally while an angled finger portion 68 is guided by the extended portion 70 of the core to also cause pivotal movement of the armature and latching member and disengagement of the latching member from the trip lever 34. The circuit breaker has a bimetallic strip 50 which on sustained overload causes the ambient temperature bimetallic strip 73, acting as the latching member, to release the lever 34, whereas on occurrence of a fault current the magnetic bimetallic armature 64 is attracted to the magnetic core 51, which also releases the lever 34 and opens the contacts.
