Abstract
1,258,483. Viscose fibres. CIBA-GEIGY A.G. 16 Sept., 1969 [1 Oct., 1968], No. 45684/69. Heading B5B. [Also in Divisions D1-D2] Viscose fibres with novel dyeing properties are prepared by adding to the spinning composition a polyamine-amide formed by reaction of (a) an unsaturated fatty acid with at least 12 and preferably less than 18 carbon atoms, its dimer or polymer with (b) a polyalkylene-polyamine and optionally the reaction product of (c) a polyepoxide compound with (d) a polyalkylene-polyamine, the total weight of the additive(s) being 1 to 20% by weight based on the cellulose. The viscose additive, which may be 90 to 10% by weight of the reaction product of (a) and (b) and 10 to 90% by weight of the reaction product of (c) and (d), may be added to the spinning solution as an aqueous solution, organic solution or in a dispersed form. The solutions or dispersion of additive may contain a non-ionic emulsifier, for example ethylene oxide addition products of alkyl phenols, amines or alcohols. The polyepoxide may be the reaction products of bisphenol A and epichlorohydrin. The polyalkylene polyamine (b) and (d) may be ethylene diamine, diethylene triamine and triethylene tetramine. Unsaturated fatty acids used in the examples are those from castor oil, tall oil and polymerized linoleic acid. The viscose is wet spun in the usual manner into a coagulation bath of, for example, sulphuric acid, washed in subsequent baths, desulphurized with dilute aqueous sodium sulphide and sodium hydroxide, washed and brightened. The fibres so produced may be dyed with acid wool or dispersion dyestuffs. Thus mixed fabrics of the treated cellulose material with untreated cellulose wool/polyamide or polyester fibre material may be differentially dyed.
