Abstract

1,258,456. Forms of wood; sawing; woodwoodworking &c. MONTAGUE L. MEYER Ltd. 10 March, 1970 [27 March, 1969], No. 16093/69. Headings B5A and B5L. [Also in Divisions E1-E2] The top and bottom surfaces of a structural member are flat and partly bounded by a convex and concave edge respectively. The top surface progressively increases in width to a maximum at its centre whereas the bottom surface progressively decreases in width to a minimum at its centre. As shown, the top and bottom surfaces lie in parallel planes however they may lie in convergent planes. Such members may be cut from a bar of constant cross-section (Fig. 2) whereupon two or four such members may be assembled to form a composite beam (Figs. 3 and 4). The bar may be first divided into two identical wedge-shaped members (Fig. 9) which are subsequently sub-divided to produce four identical members. Members having rectangular end surfaces are also described (Figs. 11, 12) and also members cut from bars having curved side surfaces (Figs. 15, 17, 18). The members may be assembled together to form a mould (Figs. 13, 13A, 13B). A panel comprising a flat sheet of material reinforced by such members is also described (Fig. 14).
