Abstract
1,257,471. Valves. TEMPLE INSTRUMENTS Ltd. 17 Sept., 1969 [20 Sept., 1968], No. 44704/68. Heading F2V. A blank for a valve body is moulded or cast from synthetic resinous material, e.g. acetal resin, and comprises a bore 15 adapted to receive a piston for movement parallel to the axis of the bore, having a first series of zones 17 to 21, separated by ribs 16, a first series of port-forming recesses 28 to 32, each separated from a zone by a web 33, a second series of port-forming recesses 38 to 42, each separated from a zone by a web 47, the thicknesses of the webs 33 being constant and being less than that of the webs 47 which are also constant, so that to form a body having the first series of recesses connecting with the bore 15, the blanks are machined to remove the webs 33 and to effect connections to the second series, further machining takes place until the webs 47 are removed, and the first series of recesses can be plugged if necessary. A second series of zones 22 to 27 is formed in the bore, and are adapted to house sealing rings. If the piston is to be pilot operated, further recesses 49 and 50 are formed in the blank which may be connected by drillings 51, recesses 53 are formed which can be connected by a drilling 54. The webs 33 can be thicker than the webs 47.
