A film-strip projector comprises a battery supplied lamp 4 with an integral condenser lens, a projection lens 2, and a manually operable film transport tooth 16 for pulling successive picture frames past a projection aperture in a pressure plate 9 urging the film against wall 10. Tooth 16 is mounted on member 15 which is depressed against spring 19 by means of knob 20, the film being pressed into a recess in wall 10 by tooth 16 during the return stroke. In another form, the transport tooth is carried on a resilient arm which flexes during this stroke and a fixed positioning tooth is provided on plate 9. A music-box may be carried inside the projector.
