In a wrapping machine e.g. for bundles of envelopes 20, wherein a folded heat sealable film e.g. of polyvinylchloride or polyethylene is manually drawn from a reel 12 with upper and lower layers of the film respectively above and below a fixed table 24 and with the folded film edge 11 along an inclined edge 22 of the table 24 supporting the bundle of envelopes, the film reel 12 is mounted in a carrier to swivel at right angles to the axis of the reel shaft 36 whereby bundles 20 of different size may sequentially be positioned adjacent the edge 11, and against transverse heat seals formed in the sealing of a preceding bundle, and the film 10 enclosing the bundle 20 may then be drawn under a heat sealing head 26 and swivelled to position the bundle 20 so that heat seals may be applied along and adjacent two sides of the bundle, by sealing head arms 28, 30. The wrapping leaves triangular voids 50, 52 which, however, disappear when the wrapping is shrunk on transfer thereof, on a conveyer 46, to an oven 44. The sealing head is brought into operation about a hinge 27 and each arm 28 or 30 carries an electrical resistance wire heating element which acts also to sever the film, the head 26 automatically being raised by the control of the automatic timer of Specification 1,113,573. The reel shaft 36 is located in vertical slots (34), Fig. 1 (not shown), of side cheeks 32 of the reel carrier and which cheeks 32 also house freely rotatable rollers 38 on which the reel rests, the carrier swivelling on a stub axle (40).
