Abstract

1,255,689. Cleaning filter candles. FILTROX-MASCHINENBAU A.G. 22 Sept., 1969 [20 Sept., 1968], No. 46655/69. Heading F2N. A cylindrical filter candle 8 is cleaned by a reciprocatory pipe 21 provided with a nozzle head 22 at its leading end and causing jets of fluid from the nozzle to be directed radially outwardly against the filter area as the nozzle head traverses the candle. Where access to the candle is difficult, the pipe 21 may be a flexible hose. The cleaning fluid medium may comprise pressurized water 26 and compressed air 27<SP>1</SP> fed to the pipe intermittently. For cleaning a candle filter having a plurality of candles a plurality of cleaning pipes may be rigidly interconnected and clean the filter candles simultaneously.
