Feriscopes ;opticalsystems for periscopes ; telescope systems.-An instrument for use on armoured cars or the like for viewing objects in the rear, and adapted to give an image which is erect and free from reversal, comprises an object glass system 1, 2, two erecting lenses 8, a reversing prism 9, and a, reflecting prism 7 or mirror in which the image is viewed by the eyepiece system 5, 6 at right-angles to the axis. The instrument is mounted by means of the flange 12 on any convenient support. The reversing prism 9 is mounted in a channel in a block 25, beneath an opening in the tube 18, which is secured to a sleeve in the head 11 as shown, and is fixed by a cover-plate 27 with projecting rib 26 screwed to the block 25. The end cover-plate 15 is removable. The outer steel tube 22 may be unscrewed by removing the grub-screw 24, and the remaining parts dismantled by removing the grub-screws 21, 19, 16, and 13.
