Abstract

1,254,994. Making hot pressed particle slabs. MOTALA VERKSTAD A.B. 21 Jan., 1970 [22 Jan., 1969], No. 2978/70. Heading B5A. A method of shaping slabs etc. by hot pressing particles, in which prior to shaping, some of the particles are heated and these particles are spread in a layer between two layers consisting of non-heated particles. The apparatus includes a particle producer 1, drier 2, screening station 3 which sends larger particles to bin 6 and finer particles to bin 7 to form the centre and outer layers of the slabs respectively. Particles from bin 6 pass through a glue mixer 8 into a heater 32 then into a shaping station 10 to form the central layer. Particles from bin 7 pass into a glue mixer 11 and hence into shaping station 10 to form the outer layers. Finally the layers are hot pressed in press 19. The particles may be of vegetable material or wood chips and the glue may be urea-formaldehyde resin. The particles for the centre layer are heated to about 70‹ C.
