Abstract

1,254,198. Perfumes. BUSH BOAKE ALLEN Ltd. 1 April, 1970 [3 April, 1969], No. 17661/69. Heading A5B. [Also in Division C2] A perfume composition comprises a compound of the formula wherein R is a C 1 -C 5 alkanoyl radical, such ester being optically active with an optical rotation corresponding to that obtainable if the said ester is prepared from 3,7-dimethyl- 1,6-octadiene having a positive optical rotation. The composition may also contain one or more of the following perfume compounds: phenyl ethyl alcohol, geraniol, benzyl acetate, citrus oils (including Bergamot oil), Jasmin oil, Geranium oil, Sandalwood oil, ionone, methyl ionone, oakmoss and synthetic musk perfumes. Examples are given in which perfume compositions are prepared.
