Folding seats; swing seats; seat adjustments.-In a folding easy chair, the back, seat, and leg-rest are pivoted so that they can be folded upon one another, while the whole chair may be collapsed sideways owing to the provision of jointed transverse members 25, 16, 59, 77, 35, and 36. The flexible covering 17 is carried by rods 26, 18, and 34, attached to the pivoted bars 22, 15, and 32 respectively, and the movements of the back and leg-rests are synchronized by the links 30, 20, the latter engaging a projection 31 on the member 19. The back and leg-rest may be locked in any desired position by turning the lever 42, its concave end 43 engaging the convex jaw 41 and clamping the arcuate member 39 to the bar 30, while the leg-rest may be further secured when in alinement with the seat by the free end of the member 19 snapping under the end of the spring-actuated slide 44. The folding transverse members at the extremities of the chair are provided with stops 67, so that their pivoted portions are held in alinement under the tension of the flexible covering 17. The intermediate transverse members are held extended by the links shown in Fig. 8, and by turning the lever 64, these transverse members may be folded as shown in Fig. 13. The support, from which the chair may be swung, comprises two side portions connected by jointed ties 75, 77, and the upper parts 73 may be folded down on to the lower parts 71, 72, after which the support may be collapsed sideways. Castors 83 may be provided on the support, and a folding and adjustable bookrest 84 may be secured to the stem 85.
