Abstract

1,253,817. Infusion apparatus. DECCA Ltd. 30 Oct., 1969 [12 Dec., 1968], No. 59230/68. Heading A5R. Infusion apparatus includes an electrical control apparatus comprising means 23 for detecting drips of infusion liquid, a timer which is started in response to a drip be detected and which provides a predetermined timing period, dependent on the time the voltage across a capacitor in the timer takes to reach a predetermined value, and control means for decreasing or increasing the drip rate depending on whether a subsequent drip occurs within or after the timing period. The control means also includes two logical AND circuits which may be triggered by means associated with the timer to acuate a drive coil for a motor, used to drive the clamp 21 and thus alter the drip rate, the two logical circuits being adapted to drive the motor in opposite directions. A further time period is provided by an adjustable monostable circuit and if the subsequent drip occurs within this period neither of the logical circuits is triggered and therefore the motor is not operated and the drip rate is not changed. If, however, the subsequent drip occurs after the further time period one of the logical circuits is triggered and the motor is operated to increase the drip rate, and if it occurs before the further time period, i.e. during the timing period, the other logical circuit is triggered and the drip rate is decreased.
