Abstract
1,252,638. Plasticizing polyamides. CHEMISCHE WERK HULS A.G. 27 March, 1969 [28 March, 1968], No. 16023/69. Heading C3R. A polyamide is plasticized by mixing with a cycloacetal alcohol or cycloketal alcohol (I) in which n=1 or 2; p=0 or 1; m=0 to 14; p + m#1; R and R<SP>1</SP> are H or monovalent organic radicals which may be substituted; R<SP>11</SP> is a monovalent organic radical, which may be substituted, containing #3C atoms; alternatively R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>11</SP> may together form a ring; (I) has b.p. #250‹C. R1 and R<SP>11</SP> may form a bivalent radical having 4-11 C-atoms, thus forming (I) as a spiro compound. 5-40 wt. per cent (I) may be added to the polyamide. Conventional plasticizers may also be added. Uses.-Extrusion and injection mouldings.
