Abstract

1,252,182. Assembling force fits. AEROSOL INVENTIONS & DEVELOPMENT S.A. 28 Jan., 1969 [5 Feb., 1968], No. 4792/69. Heading B3U. [Also in Divisions B2 and F1] A hard material member 1 having a notch 5 and a member 4 of soft cold-flowable plastics material are force fitted together to cause the softer material 4 to be displaced into the notch 5, the force required to disassemble the members 1, 4 being greater than that required to assemble them. A plastics or metal valve stem 1 of a pressurized aerosol dispensing container and having a notch 5 of rectangular or wedgeshaped cross-section completely or partially circumscribing the stem 1 is forced into a softer plastics actuator button 4. The diameter of the bore 10 of the button 4 prior to assembly is equal to the diameter of the notch 5 at the intersection of the shoulder 7 and sloping wall 8. An insert 13 of hard material is inserted into the button 4 in a similar manner. In an alternative embodiment, a soft member (29) (Fig. 8, not shown) is inserted into a steel member (26) having a notch (28) in the wall of the bore (27).
