Abstract
125,209. Rogers, R. H. April 8, 1918. Framework.-A metal beam or girder, primarily intended as a spar or wing for an aeroplane, consists of upper and lower plates A, B with transverse grooves A<1>, B', and a triangularly corrugated web C, the crests of which engage the grooves in the plates and are secured therein by tongues C<2>. Apertures A<3> may be formed in the plates. In the modification shown in Fig. 2. tongues C<3> are pressed from the web and secured to the plates; the web may consist of short corrugated lengths instead of a single: piece of metal Fig. 4 shows another form, in which the grooves are virtually formed by the opposed edges of tongues C<3> bent up from the web.
