Abstract

1,251,964. Treating bedwetting. H. EASTWOOD. 21 Jan., 1969 [22 Jan., 1968], No. 3189/68. Heading A5R. A device for use in treating bedwetting comprises two spaced dissimilar-metal sheets lying in contact with a piece of non-conductive porous material such that an electrolytic cell is established when the porous material is wetted which develops a potential difference causing the initiation of the operation of an alarm. The sheets may be of wire gauze, of perforated or expanded metal, or one sheet may be plain metal. In one form (Figure 1, not shown) two wire mats (10), connected to wires (12), are applied one on each side of a porous sheet (11). An alternative form comprises two flat electrodes 13, 14 with interjacent spaced projections fixed or printed on a flexible non- conductive sheet 15 which may be porous or may be covered by a non-conductive porous material. The electrodes are connected to wires 16. The connecting wires (12), 16 may be connected to an electronic device which actuates an audible alarm when the porous material is wetted.
