1,251,362. Measuring article dimensions by radar. BRITISH IRON & STEEL RESEARCH ASSOCIATION. 16 July, 1969 [19 July, 1968], No. 34628/68. Heading H4D. A dimension of an article is determined by transmitting via a horn an amplitude-modulated microwave signal from a datum to a target, the modulation frequency lying in the range 50 to 300 MHz., receiving at the horn an echo from the target, ascertaining the phase difference between the transmitted and received modulations, and then placing the article on the target and determining the change in that phase difference.
