Abstract

1,250,261. Aerosol compositions. MINNESOTA MINING & MFG. CO. 5 Feb., 1969 [5 Feb., 1968], No. 6240/69. Heading C4X. [Also in Division C3] Aerosol adhesive compositions comprise a propellant and a normally tacky, pressuresensitive, elastomeric, crosslinked copolymer of an ester of acrylic acid or an alpha-substituted acrylic acid, from 50-97% by weight of the crosslinked copolymer being insoluble in hexane (according to a test procedure described in the Specification), and the composition being capable of discharging from the aerosol container without forming rubbery strings. The compositions may additionally include tackifiers, viscosity stabilizers and antioxidants. Specified as propellants are fluorochlorohydrocarbons, 1,1,1-trichloroethane, propane, isobutane, carbon dioxide and nitrous oxide. In examples the adhesive copolymers are derived from iso-octyl acrylate, acrylic acid, ethylene diacrylate and, optionally, acrylonitrile.
