Abstract

1,250,081. Tanks with floating roofs. GENERAL AMERICAN TRANSPORTATION CORP. 30 Oct., 1969 [19 Dec., 1968], No. 53326/69. Heading E1T. In a tank of the floating roof type having a seal 31 and a floating roof of pontoon construction the tank is provided with a scraper mechanism 70 consisting of a series of slidably overlapping, arcuate plates 71A, 71B which are pivotably mounted on brackets 63a, attached to the roof, by hanger bars 85 and are urged against the wall of the tank by springs 100. The scraper plates are slotted to give them flexibility and the tank and roof are provided with a wind break 13 and a weather shield 51 respectively. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,077,509.
