Abstract

1,249,791. Traction apparatus. G. ZUMAGLINI [trading as OFFICINA MEDICO-ORTOPEDICA DOTT GIOVANNI ZUMAGLINI], 20 Jan., 1970 [23 Jan., 1969], No. 2733/70. Addition to 1,119,904. Heading A5R. Orthopaedic apparatus for effecting traction of the human spine, described in the parent Specification, comprises a tractor structure articulated to the pelvic girdle 1 to permit the patient to bend forward. The lower portion of the tractor structure comprises two arms 31 that are pivotably connected to the pelvic girdle 1 by pins 32, on the ends of the arms, which engage in slots 33 formed in plates 34. The upper ends of the arms 31 are attached to a body an intermediate portion of the tractor structure comprising two plates 36 (and 36') and tubular guides 35 in which are slidable rods 40. The lower and intermediate portions are adjustably locked together by spring-biased teeth 42, engageable in notches (41) on the mutually facing surfaces of the rods 40, Fig. 5 not shown so that the traction exerted by the apparatus may be increased or decreased. The lower ends of the upper portion 47, of the tractor structure which carries the head supporting structure, are arranged in tubular guides 46, on the rods 40. The guides 46 each contain a spring to absorb shocks experienced by the patient when moving.
