Abstract

1,249,404. Sintered molybdenum alloys. METALLWERK PLANSEE A.G. Oct. 13, 1969 [Oct. 11, 1968], No. 50150/69. Heading C7A. A sintered alloy consists of:- B 0À002-0À02% and O 2 less than 0À0025% with optional additions of 0À03-0À07% W or 0À05-2% in total of Zr and/or Hf, the balance being Mo. The sintering may be effected in hydrogen or vacuum and the boron is preferably added as a metal-boron compound (e.g. molybdenum boride). The Hf and/or Zr containing alloy may be solution treated at 1800‹C., rapidly cooled and aged at 1100‹C. for 50-100 hours. Reference is made in the Specification to the presence of impurity amounts of Fe, C and Si.
