Abstract

1,249,155. Gas turbine plant; jet propulsion plant. DAVID BUDWORTH Ltd. July 4, 1969 April 4, 1968, May 15, 1968], No.16363/68 and 23102/68. Headings F1G and F1J. The invention relates to a power plant comprising a gas turbine engine which drives an air compressor, the air from the compressor being passed through a heat exchanger where it is heated by the exhaust gases from the engine, the heated air being passed to a turbine which supplies useful power. In the plant shown, a gas turbine engine 1 drives an air compressor 2 the inlet of which is indicated at 2A and the air is discharged through ducts 2B to the air heaters 4 where it is heated by exhaust gases from the engine 1 discharging through two ducts 3, the exhaust gases discharging from the air heaters through outlets 4A. The heated air discharges from the air heaters through ducts 5 to two hot air turbines 6 which are arranged to drive propellers or ducted fans 7 which provide propulsive thrust or lift to a vehicle in which the plant is mounted. The air discharges from the turbines 6 through outlets 6A.
