Abstract

1,248,750. Delivering sheets; cutting apparatus. JAGENBERG-WERKE A.G. 27 Nov., 1968 [8 Dec., 1967], No. 56322/68. Heading B8R. [Also in Division F2] Sheets leaving high speed conveyer belts 9, 10 and 11 are caused to overlap by transfer to a slower moving conveyer belt 13 which latter belt is driven through a differential arrangement 15 adapted to permit selective starting and stopping of the belts. The differential, Fig. 3, comprises a drive shaft 23 and two driven shafts 24 and 25, the latter being connected to roller 26 (of conveyer 13). Shafts 24 and 25 carry brake discs 27 and 28 which may be gripped by brake shoes 34, 35. A gap in the stream of sheets detected upstream of conveyer 13 causes shaft 25 to be braked and idler shaft 24 to be released, thus transferring the drive of shaft 23 from shaft 25 to shaft 24 and stopping belts 13 to permit closing of the gap. The sheets may be cut by rotary cutters 5 from a web 2 and fed over a table 7 to a magnetically controlled deflector 8 which diverts faulty sheets (as detected at 3) to supplementary pile 22. Good sheets are delivered in overlapping formation to pile 14. Photo-cell 12 detects gaps in the stream and delivers control pulses to the differential.
