Abstract

1,248,433. Magnetic transducers. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. 9 Oct., 1968 [8 Nov., 1967], No. 47810/68. Heading G5R. A gapless magnetic transducer has an anisotropic thin magnetic film 64 on a substrate 62, a read/write winding 54 wrapped around both film and substrate, and an auxiliary winding 66 also wrapped around both film and substrate so as to produce a magnetic field having no direct effect on the read/write winding. Interrogating pulses fed to the winding 66 cause wall motion or rotation of the film domains and in the presence of a recorded field 37 allow that field to be sensed by the winding 54. A variety of configurations are described (Figs. 4 to 9, not shown).
