Abstract

1,247,394. Change-speed gear casings. ROOTES MOTORS Ltd. 1 June, 1970 [10 June, 1969], No. 29383/69. Heading F2D. A clutch bell housing 11 and gear-box casing 12, of an I.C. engine 10, are formed as a single integral unit, the tapered clutch bell housing 11 being joined to the gear-box casing 12 part-way (as shown), or midway (not shown), along the casing 12 with a number of spaced radial stiffening webs 13 integrally formed therebetween, the arrangement providing greater stiffness in the unit to reduce transmission vibration.
