Abstract

1,247,211. Pneumatic conveyers. W. BOON. 2 Jan., 1969, No. 296/69. Heading B8A. [Also in Division B1] Apparatus for the removal of laundry articles or waste material from a pneumatic conveying system comprises a housing 10 provided with an inlet 1 and a perforated duct 20 leading to an air lock chamber 27 having upper and lower pairs 22, 23 and 3, 4 of counterweighted doors. The counterweights are such as to maintain the doors closed until a predetermined amount of material accumulates on the doors to cause them to open, the arrangement being such that only one pair of doors is open at any one time. Air is extracted from the housing through an outlet 2. In a modification (not shown), the perforated duct is dispensed with and the separation of the material from the conveying air is caused by having the cross-sectional area of the housing substantially greater than that of the inlet conduit.
