Abstract

1,246,661. Metal salts of monoazo dye acids. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 24 Jan., 1969 [9 Feb., 1968], No. 6530/68. Heading C4P. The invention comprises the alkaline earth metal or heavy metal salts of monoazo dyes A-N=N-B wherein A is the residue of a diazo and B of a coupling component and wherein A or B or both A and B contains two COOH groups each directly attached to an aromatic nucleus. Specified metals are Ca, Ba, Sr, Cd, Al, Mg, Mn, Cr, Pb, Cu, Co, Ni and Zn. The salts are prepared by treating an aqueous solution of a soluble salt of the azo dye with a soluble metal salt. In examples, the dyes obtained by coupling diazotized aminobenzene dicarboxylic acids with 2,3-naphthoic acid arylamides, acetoacetanilides, pyrazolones or aminonaphthol-sulphonic acids and the dye 2 - chloro - 4 - nitroaniline#acetoacetanilide- 3,4-dicarboxylic acid are prepared, and converted into their Ca or Ba salts. The salts are used to colour polyvinyl chloride in yellow, red and blue shades.
