A weft ribbed fabric is woven on a jet loom by picking into a first shed a plurality of first legs of hairpin shaped wefts from one side of the shed, picking into a second shed a single leg of a second hairpin shaped weft from the other side of the shed, picking into a third shed the second legs of the first plurality of wefts from the first side of the shed and picking into the fourth shed the second leg of the second single weft from the second side of the shed.
