Abstract

1,245,713. Hypodermic syringes. LABORAVER. 14 April, 1969 [12 April, 1968], No. 18908/69. Heading A5R. A hypodermic syringe comprises an open ended ampoule 1 with an annular flange 2, against which is sealed, via a crimped ring, the annular flange 4 of a resilient plug 3. A tubular member 8 fits to the plug 3 and accommodates a needle 11, the needle having a projection 14, an operating sleeve 15 slidable on the needle, and a cap 19. In use the operating sleeve 15 is pushed towards the ampoule by means of thrust lugs 16 so that the needle end 12 penetrates the plug. On continued pressure of the sleeve on the member 8, which bears on the plug, the flange 4 of the plug shears along an annular incision 6 in the plug, and the plug acts as a piston to drive the contents from the ampoule along the needle.
