1,244,965. Controlling reactors. BRITISH NUCLEAR DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION Ltd. 28 March, 1969 [29 Dec., 1967], No. 59059/67. Heading G6C. In a nuclear reactor control system the control rod 11 is adjusted by the motor 12 in correspondence with the signals developed by the neutron flux sensor, 13, and the flux doubling time sensor, 14. Demanded flux and inverse doubling-time limit signals are injected into the control circuit by devices 16 and 18, respectively. The actual doubling time signal, α m , from the inverter 21 and the limited demanded inverse doubling time signal, α D <SP>1</SP>, are both supplied to the comparator 19 throughput of which is applied to the control law circuit 20. A transfer function is applied, at 20, to generate the signal controlling the speed or switch-on time of motor 12. When the neutron flux is at the required value, the flux-inverse doubling time signal operates to stabilize the flux control feedback system.
