A method of combating weeds comprises the application of at least one C 5 to C 15 branched chain aliphatic carboxylic acid, optionally together with a phytotoxic solvent. Many acids are specified, but those preferred are the neoacids such as neo-decanoic and neo-tridecanoic acids.
