Abstract
124,348. Leadbeater, J. W. July 2, 1918. Composition fuel.-A porous and practically smokeless fuel is made by mixing peat, pitch, and coal or coke in granular form and heating the mixture to a temperature of about 800 to 1000‹ F. so as to eliminate tarry matters from the coal and melt the pitch, which is absorbed by the peat. The proportions of ingredients employed are 40-50 per cent of peat, 15-25 per cent of pitch, and 45-25 per cent of coal or coke. After the ingredients have been mixed, they are placed in a mould which is then put into a retort, or they are placed directly into the retort.
