Abstract

1,243,417. Detecting the presence of labels. O. HOFLIGER and R. KARG [trading as HOFLIGER & KARG], May 30, 1969 [June 8, 1968], No.27386/68. Heading G1M. The presence of a label 20 on a jar or box 1 is detected by the end 21 of a spring feeler 4 which is pulled downwardly by an electro-magnet 8 which is energized by passage of the jar 1 past a light transmitter 16 and a receiver 17. If a label is present then the connection of the feeler 4 with an insulated support 6 is broken and a control unit 12 is not energized to give off an impulse to an evaluating device (not shown). However, if no label is present the feeler is not raised from the support and an impulse is given by the unit 12 to the evaluating device which can for example automatically reject and signal the label-less jar.
