Abstract
1,242,633. Container closures; drip catching device. L. G. DOWSON. 16 Jan., 1970 [20 Jan., 1969; 8 Feb., 1969], No. 3253/69. Headings B8D and B8T. A drip preventing device for a bottle comprises, an inner element mounted within an outer section, such that the fluid flows through the inner element, and drips are collected between the inner and outer element, and flow back into the bottle through holes between these two members. The inner member 35 has a generally funnel shape, and is connected via rim 34 to an outer conically shaped section with holes 33. A valve 41 may be provided. As shown the device may be inserted into the neck of a bottle and a screw cap placed on top of it; may be screwed on to the neck of a bottle and have incorporated with it a snap on cap, Fig. 4 (not shown). Again the snap on cap may be replaced by a hinged bung, Fig. 6 (not shown). Alternatively the device may form an integral part of the bottle, Fig. 7 (not shown).
