Abstract

1,241,962. Purification of water. J. R. CLARK. 27 Aug., 1968 [28 Aug., 1967], No. 40970/68. Heading C1C. Various waters and aqueous wastes are treated with a water-soluble inorganic coagulant and fly ash which has been treated with a strong acid in an amount of at least 3% by weight of that required to react completely with the metal compounds present in the fly ash. The acid-treated fly ash and water-soluble inorganic coagulant e.g. FeCl 3 , may be used alone or with an organic polyelectrolyte e.g. organic polymers or activated silica, and with lime.
