Abstract

1,239,405. Stud fasteners. CANNING BRETT Ltd. 9 Sept., 1968 [9 Sept., 1967], No. 41272/67. Heading E2B. A clip 1 for fastening a stud 13, attached to a member 12, after the stud has been passed through an apertured member 11, in order to secure the members 11 and 12 together, consists of a strip of spring steel bent to the shape shown and provided in its inclined portion with a keyhole slot the enlarged portion of which is adjacent the arcuate lip 2 to receive the stud as shown, the clip then being slid to the left as shown, through the sliding engagement of its lip 2 and flange 5 with the member 11, whereby the stud contacts upwardly bent cutting edges on either side of the narrower portion of the keyhole slot which bite into the shank of the stud causing the stud to be tensioned to urge the members 11, 12, which may be panels of a motor vehicle, into close contact.
