Abstract

1,239,382. Bearings. TORRINGTON CO. Ltd. 17 June, 1968 [1 April, 1967], No. 15013/67. Heading F2A. A roller thrust bearing comprises a cage provided with projections 52 situated radially outside the area of rolling contact with a raceway which serve to prevent the rest of the cage from contacting the raceway. The projections are vane-shaped and also serve to direct lubricant back into the bearing. The cage may be machined or moulded in one piece, or assembled from a pair of sheet metal components (Fig. 4, not shown).
