Abstract
123,906. Brush Electrical Engineering Co., and Scholefield, P. W. May 31, 1918. Insulation. - High- @usion coils have successive layers wound direct on to insulating- tubes, distance pieces being arranged to form oil spaces between adjacent layers. The first layer 1 is wound on the insulating-tube 2 surrounding the inner winding and insulating distance-pieces 3 are employed to support the next tube 4. The conductor is passed through a slot 6 in the tube 4 and the second layer is wound on the tube 4. A separate tube is added for each layer of winding, and tappings 13 may be formed in the outer layer by simply looping the conductor. Tappings on the intermediate windings can be brought out through the slots in the tubes. Each tube may be formed in one piece, or as a split tube with a butt or an overlap joint, or may be formed of two or more segments and may be of any desired shape.
