1,238,903. Colour television. PYE Ltd. 14 Aug., 1969 [28 Aug., 1968], No. 41054/68. Heading H4F. A master oscillator for use with a 625 line, 50 fields per second PAL colour television system in which the relationship F H =4/1135 (F sc - ¢F v ) is satisfied, comprises an oscillator 1, Fig. 2, having a sub-carrier frequency F sc , the output of which is applied to a modulator 2 to which is also applied a signal of frequency Fv/2 (see below). The output of modulator 2 is filtered 3 and the resulting difference frequency (F sc - ¢F v ) is multiplied by 2 and applied directly and via a divide by 5 stage 10 to the inputs of a second modulator 11 the difference output 8/5(F sc - ¢F v ) being filtered 12 and divided by 227 in stage 13 to derive frequency 2F H . This is divided by 2 to form line frequency f H and divided by 625 to derive field frequency # v . Frequency F v is divided by 2 in stage 8 and applied to modulator 2 are previously described. Frequencies F sc , 2F H , F H and F v are applied to a synchronizing pulse generator of a PAL colour television system. If the " - ¢F v " offset is not required, modulator 2, filter 3 and divider 8 are not required. In addition for a 525 line, 60 fields per second colour television system stage 13 divides by 91 and stage 7 by 525.
