Abstract
1,237,622. Vehicle load lifting platform. BURTONWOOD MECHANICAL HANDLING CO. Ltd. 8 April, 1970 [6 Feb., 1969], No. 6583/69. Heading B8E. A vehicle load lifting platform 9 is pivotally secured to guide members 7 in turn slidable on guide columns 1 which in turn slide up and down on guide members 2 secured to the vehicle at spaced positions at the rear of its load floor. The guides 2, 7 are T-shaped, Fig. 3, and enter slots in the front and rear of the hollow columns 1 and have wheels 3, 8, which run on a web 4 of the column. A cable or other flexible member 5 connects the guide 2 fixed to the vehicle via a pulley 6 to the guide 7. A piston cylinder 10 having pulleys 13, 14 on its piston acts on cables 11, 12 fixed at 11B, 12B to the columns 1 so that on extension of the pistons the columns are drawn up the guides 2 and because of the connecting member 5 the guides 7 with the platform 9 are raised relative to the columns. In the fully lowered position the columns 1 and platform 9 leave free access to the vehicle floor with the platform 9 near the ground, while they can be raised until the columns are above the floor and the platform is level or above it. Modified guide columns are described.
