[Also in Divisions A5 and B1] The homogeneity of a mixture is monitored by incorporating therein a magnetized or non- magnetized ferromagnetic material (e.g. ferrite powder) and determining its degree if dispersion by an instrument in the mixing container sensitive to the presence of ferrous material. A single such instrument (e.g. a sensor coil) will generate a signal of variable intensity which becomes constant when the mixture is homogeneous or three such instruments may be sequentially switched into circuit, homogeneity being indicated by a signal of the same intensity from each. The signals may be amplified and used to switch off the mixer motor when homogeneity is reached. The coils may be connected in a tuned circuit to control the frequency of an oscillator.
