Abstract

1,236,958. Double glazing. E. M. H. SCHOLES. 24 Sept., 1969 [25 June, 1968], No. 30207/68. Heading E1R. An existing single glazing 4 is converted to a double glazing by locating a continuous or intermittent spacing strip 2 around and within the existing frame 3 and butting against the existing glazing 4 and interlocking with the strip 2 a carrier frame 9 carrying the second sheet of glass 8. As shown the strip 2 is of channel form with one arm 7 longer than the other which is undercut to interlock with the beaded edge 12 of the flange 11 of the carrier frame of which bears underneath integrally or otherwise secured thereto, single or double sealing fins 14. Alternatively a groove may be provided in the underneath side of the base to receive a sealing strip e.g. of velvet.
