Abstract
1,236,069. Electronic counters. HITACHI Ltd. 31 Oct., 1968 [6 Nov., 1967], No. 51630/68. Heading G4A. [Also in Division H3] A cross-coupled type bi-stable circuit, shown in Fig. 8 as T1, T5, T9, T10, and connectible in a chain with similar circuits is switched by two trigger circuits driven by an inverter. Each trigger circuit comprises two field-effect transistors in series, T2, T3 and T6, T7 the gate of one being fed from the output of an inverter 3 and the gate of the other being fed via a further field effect transistor T4 or T8 with the switching signal supplied to the input of the inverter. A common transistor (T2<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 10, not shown) may replace transistors T2 and T6. In operation, when T1 is off and Vin is zero T4 conducts and charges the gate capacitance of T3. Accordingly when Vin becomes negative T3 remains on and as T2 becomes conductive conduction through T2 and T3 switches over the bi-stable circuit to the state in which T1 conducts. The next negative excursion of Vin again reverses the state. False operation due to T2 and T4 conducting together is avoided as the switching of the output of the inverter 3 is delayed with respect to the input.
