Abstract

1,234,345. Two-part couplings. MOLEX PRODUCTS Ltd. 24 Nov., 1969 [5 May, 1969] No. 57312/69. Heading H2E. In an electrical connector 10 comprising a plug 12 and a socket 14, each having a moulded insulating housing 34, 16 and a plurality of contacts, the socket housing has a latching shoulder 26 and the plug housing is provided with a flexible latch member 46, the two engaging to hold the plug and socket together. For disengagement two protuberances 56 on opposite sides of the plug housing perpendicular to the side incorporating the latch member are gripped with the thumb and a finger of one hand and pulled back while another finger flexes up the latch member, thus releasing the plug from the socket. Wings 28 integral with socket may be folded back to enable the socket to be mounted in a panel.
