Abstract

1,231,201. Cylinders; fluid pressure brakes; change speed gearing. SELF-CHANGING GEARS Ltd. 22 May, 1968 [22 Feb., 1967], No. 8450/67. Headings F2D, F2F and F2T. A servomotor for actuating friction brake and clutch mechanisms copmrises a cylinder block 3 formed integrally with its mounting plate 2, cylinder liners 4 which are easily inserted and extracted by hand and cylinder cover-plates 6 provided independently of each other so that access to any cylinder for replacement of worn or damaged seals or liners may be achieved without disturbing the cover-plates of the other cylinders, each cover-plate being fitted with sealing rings 14, 15 which prevent leakage between the liner bore and a boss or rib on the coverplate and between the mounting plate and the cover-plate. As shown, the servomotor is bolted to a gearcase 1 and piston-rods 13 actuate a gear changing friction brake mechanism, the pistons 9 being moved against the action of return springs 12 by fluid pressure.
