Abstract

1,230,841. Transferring glassware between endless conveyers. U.G. TABLEWARE Ltd. 21 May, 1969 [21 May, 1968], No. 24190/68. Heading B8A. A transfer device comprises an article retaining member 10 adapted to traverse a conveyer from which articles are to be removed, the retaining member 10 having a plurality of spaced article-receiving recesses 12, a transfer member 20 disposed vertically above the member 10 and having a plurality of article gripping means 22, the transfer member 20 being adapted to pick up articles 2 retained in the recesses 12 and deposit them on the carriers 6 of a conveyer 8. As described, there are two members 20 each carrying a series of semi-cylindrical gripping jaws 22. Each jaw 22 co-operates with a corresponding jaw on the other member 20 to grip the upper part of an article of glassware which extends above the member 10.
