Abstract
1,230,474. Epicyclic change speed gear. ZAHNRADFABRIK FRIEDRICHSHAFEN A.G. 27 Aug., 1968 [8 Sept., 1967], No. 40840/68. Heading F2D. In an epicyclic change-speed and reverse gear, particularly for track-laying vehicles, shovel loaders, scrapers and graders, wherein a reverse gear and a serially following change-speed gear comprise a plurality of sun-ring trains, the rings of all of the trains are identical in respect of tooth number and pitch and the trains of the first two sets which form the reverse gear and a first train of the change-speed gear are identical in respect of tooth number and pitch. As shown, the reverse gear comprises two sunring trains 102, 103 having suns 102a, 103a fast on an input shaft 101, ring 102b fast with carrier 103c, ring 103b fast with an intermediate shaft 110, and carrier 102c clutchable at 105 to the input shaft 101 for solid 1/1 Forward or braked at 104 for 1/1 Reverse. The following change-speed gear provides two Reduced, Direct and Overdrive and comprises three sun-ring trains 111, 112, 117 having suns 111a, 111b and carrier 117c fast on the intermediate shaft 110, carrier 111c fast with ting 112b, and carrier 112c, and carrier 112c and ring 117b fast with an output gear 120. 1st is by braking ring 112b at 114, 2nd by braking the ring 111b at 113, 3rd (Direct) by clutching ring 112b and carrier 112c together at 115, and 4th (Overdrive) by braking sun 117a at 118. Output gear 120 drives a front axle drive-shaft 121 through gears 120b, 120c. A rear axle drive-shaft 123 may be clutched to the shaft 121 by a dog clutch 120d, 125b actuated pneumatically, hydraulically or, as shown, by a shaft 127 and member 126. Alternatively, a clutch may disengage the front axle drive. In Figs. 3a, 3b, 4 (not shown), the input shaft 101 is driven from an engine through a hydrodynamic torque converter 130 having a reactor fixed or reacting on a one-way detent, and includes hydraulically actuated friction clutches and brakes. The engine also drives, through fixed ratio gears, a pressure supply pump (160) and a secondary output shaft (141) which may drive the front and rear axles and serves mainly for driving hydraulic pumps and devices. The fluid from the pump (160) is directed to a F-N-R- distributer valve (166) for the reverse gear and, through an on-off dump valve (163) (preferably pedal-operated), a 1-4 and Neutral distributer valve for the following change-speed gear. Oil from the pump (160) is also fed to the torque converter, and lubricates the gears and discs of the clutches and brakes. In Fig. 1 (not shown), the Overdrive train 117 is omitted, and the final carrier drives a bevel pinion through a spur gear pair.
