1,228,971. Seals for bearings. UNILAN A.G. 8 April, 1968 [29 June, 1967], No. 16865/68. Headings F2A and F2B. A dirt-proof cover for rolling bearings comprises an annular ring 3 of glass fibre-reinforced polyurethane having a peripheral flange 4 which clips into a circumferential groove 2 in the outer bearing race 1, and at its inner periphery a bearing surface 9 bears against the rounded face of the inner race 7. The internal peripheral lip of the cover preferably has a rounded crosssection having a small radius of curvature in order to reduce the contact between the cover and the race so as to reduce the friction between them.
