Abstract

1,228,756. Rotor core constructions. LAURENCE SCOTT & ELECTROMOTORS Ltd., and M. D. CRAIG. 3 Sept., 1968 [16 June, 1967], No. 28004/67. Heading H2A. A rotor for a synchronous reluctance motor comprises generally annular magnetic material pole laminations 1, 2 of larger and smaller inner diameters and which alternate axially, and a non-magnetic lamination 3 fitted into each larger inner diameter lamination 1 and between axially successive smaller inner diameter laminations 2, the laminations being connected together to produce a mechanically solid part. The magnetic laminations 1, 2 have bridging pieces 4 which are subsequently machined away to leave separate polepieces to provide maximum quadrature axis reluctance. In slots 11 a conducting squirrel cage is wound or cast. The laminations are connected together by insulated magnetic or non-magnetic bolts or rivets 15 and/or an epoxy resin adhesive, and the non-magnetic laminations 3 and end rings 5 are keyed to a non-magnetic shaft 7.
